Skyscanner has launched its Savings Generator tool in India, Singapore and South Korea. In Australia, this release is a refreshed and updated version of the initial edition launched in September 2023. The launch follows Skyscanner’s latest research, conducted in collaboration with OnePoll, which revealed that over 68% of APAC travellers plan to travel during ‘summer’, or June to September, yet a significant percentage (42%) have not booked their trips. The reasons for this hesitation include indecision on dates (52%) and destinations (85%).
The research also indicates that travellers are still seeking great value deals, with 9 in 10 still trying to find the best offers and a further 45% waiting for a last-minute deal**. As such, this tool is designed to help travellers save significantly on their upcoming trips.
Skyscanner’s data experts have analysed tens of thousands of data points to help travellers stretch their budgets further this year. The Savings Generator provides insights into the average monthly price and visualises the best time to book for the some of the most popular destinations. Additionally, it suggests a range of even cheaper destinations.
Best time to book to secure the best value deals
As a general rule, here are some of the best times to book flights for travel this July and August ahead of departure:
- Australia: 16 weeks for travel this July, 13 weeks for travel this August
- India: 16 weeks for travel this July, 13 weeks for travel this August
- Singapore: 12 weeks for travel this July, 13 weeks for travel this August
- South Korea: 7 weeks for travel this July, 7 weeks for travel this August

Savings Generator was launched in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, US and Canada in January 2023 and in Australia in September 2023. Throughout this time, Skyscanner has refreshed and updated the original money-saving tool, to ensure the insights shared as helpful to travellers as possible. Skyscanner has since expanded the reach of the tool into further APAC markets such as India, Singapore and South Korea on 28 May 2024.
