Rom-com lovers have been told the most iconic and romantic filming locations to visit across the UK. Experts at LeaseCar.uk have revealed the seven best filming spots to visit for a romantic road trip ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Fans of Pride and Prejudice can visit Mr Darcy’s house in the Peak District – Chatsworth House, which is also said to be an inspiration for the Jane Austen novel. The stunning village of Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire was used as a location for the romantic war film Testament of Youth.

And a luxurious boutique hotel near Dublin, Tara Hall, was used to film the end scene of Love, Rosie. Tim Alcock from LeaseCar.uk said: “There are lots of stunning locations around the UK which have been used in some of the most iconic romantic films.

“Rather than just watching your favourite rom-com on the telly this Valentine’s Day, why not actually visit the very place they were filmed. “Take a road trip with your loved ones to stay in the gorgeous Porthpean House in Cornwall where About Time was filmed.

“Tourists can also head over to the bookshop from Notting Hill and climb Arthur’s Hill in Edinburgh like Dexter and Emma did in One Day. “And the chocolate-box village of Snowshill in the Cotswolds is a quaint, charming location with picturesque scenery, which was used as the filming place in Bridget Jones’ Diary when she visits her parents.”

Here are the UK’s romantic movie locations to visit:

  1. Chatsworth House, Derbyshire (Pride and Prejudice – 2005)

The grand Chatsworth House was the filming location of Mr Darcy’s residence in Pride and Prejudice and is also said to be the inspiration in Jane Austen’s original novel. Visitors will recognise the Sculpture Gallery which is still home to the bust of Mr Darcy used in the film.

  1. Porthpean House, Cornwall (About Time – 2013)

This time-travelling rom com was partly filmed in and around Turo in Cornwall. Visitors can stay overnight in the gorgeous Porthpean House which was featured in the film, with stunning views overlooking the coast. The church in the quaint village of St Michael Penkevil was also used as the location for Tim and Mary’s wedding.

  1. The Notting Hill Bookshop, London (Notting Hill – 1999)

For fans of Notting Hill, the iconic blue bookshop is a must-see in London. The shop on 142 Portobello Road is now a gift shop and served as the filming location for William’s travel bookshop. But around the corner on 13 Blenheim Crescent is the Notting Hill Bookshop which served as inspiration for the film and still stands today.

  1. Robin Hood’s Bay, Yorkshire (Testament of Youth – 2014)

The WW1 memoir romantic film used the beach at Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire to shoot the scenes when Roland returns from the war. This picturesque fishing village is a lovely, romantic place to stroll around with charming cafes and independent shops.

  1. Snowshill, Gloucestershire (Bridget Jones’s Diary – 2001)

Snowshill is a quiet but charming village nestled in the Cotswolds with scenic landscapes all around. The 2001 Bridget Jones’s Diary used Snowshill to film the scenes when Bridget visits her parents.

  1. Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh (One Day – 2011)

This romantic drama film sees Dexter and Emma graduate from the University of Edinburgh and follows their lives over the next few decades. At the end of the film, one of the most iconic scenes sees Dexter visit Arthur’s Seat and remember his time with Emma. It’s just a short hike up to the top of the hill to see the beautiful views over Edinburgh and beyond.

  1. Tara Hall, Dublin (Love, Rosie – 2014)

In the coastal village of Howth a few miles from Dublin is a boutique hotel where the rom com Love Rosie filmed its iconic climatic scene. The luxurious house overlooks the sea and is a perfect setting for a romantic weekend getaway.
